It is often said that the best place to hide something is in plain sight. The affiliate marketing secret is no different. Google and the ‘gurus’ all say the same thing “Content is King”

What do they mean by that? In a nutshell, they mean good, informative and entertaining content on a regular basis.

When we think about it, when we want to know something the easiest thing to do to get the information is to “Google it”. This is quickly becoming a throw-away answer whenever anyone asks a question that we aren’t too sure of the answer to, the first thing we tell people is “to Google it”.

Somehow, “to bing it” doesn’t yet have quiet the same sense of authority in a humorous way that to tell someone to go ‘Google it’ has. One day perhaps it may, but by then I think Google will be simply a part of our everyday language even more so than it is now.

Anyway, that’s taking you away from the affiliate marketing secret. There is no secret but there is a methodology that suits everyone, including you if you haven’t yet found it. The secret word is consistency.

What is consistency?

The concise Oxford dictionary 1964 definition for consistent is (n) Degree of density, esp.of thick liquids; firmness, solidity,(lit & fig.) (Consistency) state of being consistent, esp. of persons.

In today’s language it means being constant. Constantly putting new information into the cyber sphere for people to find and read easily.

The thing that writers have to be very much aware of today is the limitations of people’s reading capabilities. They don’t have the time to linger over unfamiliar words nor are they likely to look them up in a dictionary.

You may smile over my ‘old’ 1964 Oxford Dictionary but it has been my faithful friend now since school days. It is battered, covered in cracking plastic and sits at my desk above my left hand. This dictionary gives me the basis of words and over the past 45 years you would be surprised how many of them have ‘migrated’ for want of a better explanation.

The political ‘spin doctors’, PR personnel and advertising agencies have doctored a lot of our language, so for me it helps to get back to basics. So, my dictionary stays close by, constantly available. Today constancy and consistency have become interchangeable words.

But what is definitely (not yet anyway) interchangeable with any other method of successful affiliate marketing, is to get picked up by Google by meeting Google’s need for informative, entertaining and continuous appetite for good content.

Google makes no secret of that; it’s out in plain sight.

Affiliate marketing has been the main focus of online marketing for many years. Perhaps you’re an online marketer and you understand what I’m saying. If so you’ve come to realize that it’s a jungle out there, and the phrase, dog eat dog certainly applies here. But let me be specific and say that there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.

For the most part ClickBank has been the main focus for promoting downloadable products (products such as eBooks, software etc). The potential for profit however, has dwindled in the past year. This could be due to increased competition as well as the lack of proper preparation and marketing savvy.

One of the {most important factors I’ve identified is what I call the guru hold. The guys with the biggest lists are the ones privy to product pre-launches. This small elite group is given the luxury of promoting the product before anyone else thus taking the largest market share leaving the small guy with the scraps.

But this issue can be circumvented and if you’re a doubting Thomas at this point that’s ok, I would be too. Let me add that you should be.

I bet you’ve heard that automation is the key to doing business online. While this is true, it’s not the end all of affiliate marketing because there is more to promoting a products than just buying software.

Buying any software won’t make it happen unless you research your product and how the software can fill your specific needs. There is and never has been software that will do everything for you without monitoring and tweaking. If you’ve fallen prey to the slimy gurus that sell you the latest and the greatest solutions that NEVER deliver results you’ll be glad to learn that there is hope.

Perhaps you are not aware that many of the affiliate marketing tasks can be automated. For example lead generation means that it takes time and ingenunity to generate new prospects. Here’s where automation takes over and saves hours upon hours of time.

Backlinking and pinging is another important component of lead generation and of course this can be automated as well. Additionally blogging and video marketing can play a part and these too, need time and can and should be automated. The most important component is to uncover niches. This is important because if you define a small market niche it’s possible to gain more conversions and sales. It’s the target market concept that takes over and software can help with that as well.

Time is the biggest factor in online affiliate marketing. And time is the commodity that eludes most of us. Everyone’s life is filled with obligations, businesses and non-business related responsibilities and we don’t a lot of time to spare and this is the main reason that many fail at affiliate marketing.By the same token automation can take over many of the tasks that can be automated leaving you free for the more important tasks related to humans and that software cannot accomplish. Wouldn’t it be nice to find software that would do all these jobs sand work as one? Yes with one piece of software it’s possible to accomplish complete or almost complete automation and leverage your time to your advantage while making a good living at the same time.
