I feel they are nothing more than making your site into
a billboard. The pay per click rate is so small you have
to have any kind of volumne to make any money. Approx.
5.00 a day with 500 clicks.
I love working with Commission Junction and LinkShare.
I only use banners that I can control and those companies
that tie-in with my site.
Best to you.
Kimberly is wrong and obviously doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
To answer your question, you have to ask “What is my site about?” That’s what determines the ads that display on your site.
If your website is about insurance, lawyers, loans, education, etc., then ads on your website will be related to that topic and therefore will command a higher click.
If your site is about under water basket weaving, chances are, not many relevant ads exist for that which will cause less people to click which means your click rate will be LOW.
I say a good click rate “guesstimate-wise” is 1-2% but that’s just my opinion. It all really depends on how optimized your site is, the content on your site, the position of the ad blocks, the commercial intent of the searcher… and so on.
